All summer long, the grasshopper sang and played in the sun.

整個夏天，蟋蟀都在陽光下唱歌、玩耍。

Nearby, a little ant worked hard every day.

在不遠處，一隻小螞蟻每天努力工作。

The ant carried food to its home, again and again.

螞蟻一次又一次地把食物搬回家。

"Why do you work so much?" the grasshopper laughed.

「你幹嘛工作這麼拼？」蟋蟀笑著說。

"Come and enjoy the beautiful weather!"

「來享受這美好的天氣吧！」

"I'm saving food for the winter," the ant said.

「我在為冬天存糧，」螞蟻說。

"Winter is far away," said the grasshopper, and kept singing.

「冬天還遠得很，」蟋蟀說完，繼續唱歌。

Soon, the warm days ended.

沒過多久，溫暖的日子結束了。

Cold winter came, and snow covered the ground.

寒冷的冬天來臨，白雪覆蓋了大地。

The grasshopper had no food and felt very hungry.

蟋蟀沒有食物，餓得發慌。

It saw the ant's warm home, full of food.

牠看見螞蟻溫暖的家，裡頭堆滿了食物。

The ant shared a little, but shook its head.

螞蟻分了牠一些，卻搖了搖頭。

"There is a time to play and a time to work," it said.

「玩樂有時，工作也有時，」牠說。

The grasshopper finally understood.

蟋蟀終於明白了。

Hard work today makes tomorrow easier.

今天的努力，會讓明天更輕鬆。
