At midnight, Clara's phone buzzed with a new message.

午夜時分，克拉拉的手機震動，跳出一則新訊息。

It was from her best friend, Nina.

訊息來自她最好的朋友妮娜。

"Come to the old lighthouse. I need to tell you something important."

「來舊燈塔一趟，我有重要的事要告訴你。」

Clara hesitated, but Nina rarely asked for anything.

克拉拉猶豫了一下，但妮娜很少開口要求什麼。

The road to the lighthouse was dark and empty.

通往燈塔的路又暗又空蕩。

When she arrived, the door was slightly open.

她抵達時，門微微開著。

Inside, a single candle was burning on the table.

屋內，桌上點著一根蠟燭。

Next to it lay Nina's phone and a folded letter.

旁邊放著妮娜的手機和一封摺好的信。

But Nina was nowhere to be found.

但妮娜卻不見蹤影。

Clara opened the letter with shaking hands.

克拉拉用顫抖的手打開那封信。

"Thank you for always coming when I call," it read.

信上寫著：「謝謝你，每次我一呼喚，你總會出現。」

The last line simply said, "Now turn around."

最後一行只寫著：「現在，轉過身吧。」

Clara turned slowly, her heart pounding in her chest.

克拉拉緩緩轉身，心臟在胸口猛烈跳動。

Suddenly, the whole room lit up at once.

突然間，整個房間瞬間亮了起來。

"Surprise! Happy birthday!" shouted Nina and all her friends.

「驚喜！生日快樂！」妮娜和所有朋友一起大喊。

Clara had completely forgotten that midnight was the start of her own birthday.

克拉拉完全忘了，午夜正是她自己生日的開始。
